About Me
- Name: anguswalker
- Location: Wellington, New Zealand
I graduated in 2005 from Elam School of Fine Arts, at the University of Auckland, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in painting.Prior to this I did a Gap year as an assistant teacher and sports coach in Sussex,England. I traveled around Eastern Europe visiting many galleries and museums. In 2005 I taught English in Japan for three months. I then lived in Newtown, Wellington, working as a projectionist at the Empire Cinema in Island Bay. I exhibited at Blackbarn Estate gallery in Havelock North. Early 2006 I trekked to Base Camp of Everest, in Nepal, with my friend Jim, returning early due to riots to overthrow the Principality. I moved to Wanaka for the ski season, then flew to North Carolina to sell xmas trees for five weeks berfore xmas. Got the train to New York, where I got a job selling Kiwi mince pies in Brooklyn, and stayed with my cousin, and her family on the upper west side. I visited alot of galleries, and was able to catch my mentor Max Gimblett at home on the Bowery, (a real highlight for me). Since returning to Wellington I have won a Parklane Art Award, and I am exhibiting in Emerge gallery, Wellington and Morgan Street Gallery, in Auckland.
